Built By Our Family, For Your Family
The year was 1972. Larry and Jean Daniel owned and operated an RV sales dealership in Richmond, VA. Despite their success, Larry dreamed of opening his own campground one day. Larry took advantage of an opportunity to turn his dream into reality when he found and purchased the perfect property in rural Powhatan County. Jean wasn't so sure about Larry's plans but reluctantly supported him in his new adventure. Over the next two years, Larry and Jean spent their weekends along with their young son, Scott, in Powhatan building a camground. After two years of hard work and shortly after the birth of their second son Preston, Cozy Acres Campground opened in 1974 just in time for it's first 4th of July weekend.
After more than twenty years of operation, Larry decided that it was time to grow, so in 1997 Phase II was underway. Additional campsites were built, the entrance driveway was paved and the clubhouse was built. Since then there have been ongoing improvements over the years such as a covered bridge, hiking trails, an addition to the clubhouse, and most recently in 2019, the main bathhouse was completely renovated. The Daniel family is continually looking for ways to upgrade and make improvements to Cozy Acres Campground in order to make your stay fun and memorable.
In 2002 Larry and Jean's oldest son, Scott, who had ventured into the collision repair business, decided he wanted to be more involved in the day to day operations of Cozy Acres. He talked to his parents about his wishes and to this day is the campground manager. Larry and Jean's youngest son, Preston, and their many grandchildren also have a presence at Cozy Acres, making this a true family operation.
More than forty-five years later, families are still returning to Cozy Acres with their children, grandchildren, and friends making memories that will last a lifetime. The Daniel family would like to thank their loyal customers who have been visiting for years and hope that you will join the Cozy Acres family as well.
